Trên Fedora 16 thì cách cài cũng tường tự như trên Fedora 15, tuy nhiên bạn sẽ gặp lỗi với lệnh “service postgresql initdb” vì nó không còn tồn tại nữa, do Fedora đã chuyển sang systemd nên bạn phải gõ lệnh mới là “postgresql-setup initdb” với quyền root!

Nếu bạn đã thành thạo Linux thì mình khuyên bạn chạy PostgreSQL trên CentOS, RHEL, Debian để đảm bảo tính ổn định, hầu hết các distro linux hiện nay đều có PostgreSQL trong kho phần mềm nên bạn không cần dịch từ sourcecode (mình sẽ sớm viết bài cài PostgreSQL từ sourcecode). Còn nếu bạn dùng PostgreSQL trên Windows thì có thể sử dụng gói cài đặt dành cho Windows tại http://www.postgresql.org/download/windows , gói này có đính kèm các công cụ đồ họa sẵn để bạn có thể quản trị và phát triển một cách dễ dàng, bạn không cần sử dụng MinGW khi chạy PostgreSQL trên Windows.
